I was introduced to Updike by father, through his "Rabbit" series of books. I loved his novel "Memories of the Ford Administration", I mean who else could form a novel from the Ford Pressidency? One of my favorite pieces that he wrote was about Red Sox slugger Ted Williams, titled, "Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu" which originally appeared in the New Yorker magazine.

As recently as 2006 he published a novel titled, "Terrorist" which was a great read.
Here is a link to an interview he gave on NPR. (link to audio)
His work will be missed.By the way, "Pitchers and Catchers report in twenty days!"
